Apple Crumble

This has been one of my favourite seasonal treats since I was a little girl.

Recipe from the amazing Exclusively Food, embellished slightly by adding lemon zest, vanilla and sultanas to the apple, and using rolled oats, cinnamon and almond meal instead of the chopped nuts in the crumble.

This Morning

The sky was covered in unusual wispy clouds this morning. Like little tufts of curly fur. There is a new chill in the air. It has been so hot lately I was wondering what happened to Autumn, but it's back. Looking forward to my bowl of steaming creamy porridge this morning!

The bean seedlings are also shooting up. I can't believe how fast they grow! I suspect we will be able to climb up them, a la Jack and the Beanstalk, any day now.

Autumn

I've always loved this time of the year. This between time. When you can feel the seasons turning. Summer scorched us with its heat again last weekend, reluctant to surrender its hold just yet. Now this morning watching the little one nap, I can feel coolness creeping in through the window. Bringing with it delicious anticipation of the coming cold, after the unrelenting heat of summer. Autumn a time to slow down, to turn inwards, to nourish and fortify ourselves in preparation for the winter
